The severe storm forecast for Brisbane city was upgraded to a “heavy rain”, with low clouds forecast.

Emergency services attended to more than 50 minor injuries in south-east Queensland.

People were evacuated from areas including Brisbane City Centre, Cairns, Port Stephens, Brisbane, The Outback and the Sunshine Coast.

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for north-west Queensland from 2.30pm AEDT today until 3am AEDT on Friday.

A high of 45 was recorded just outside Port Stephens about 4km off Cairns’ Great Eastern shore, but had weakened to a high of 35 and was expected to diminish on Friday morning.

The Brisbane flood is among a number of major events around the country due to flooding in parts of the state, including one in the Sunshi구리출장샵ne Coast due to flood waters that are expected to hit the region as low as 5.5m by Monday morning.

The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service said the weather event, initially thought to have the capacity to affect more than 600,000 people, had now subsided to the low-to-moderate level of 1.25m and has been “mild”.

The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) said the high pressure system has been “contained” to the west coast but was likely to be monitored further.
