SESAME OIL MOISTURISER
A few times a week, I rub sesame oil onto my body before a shower — an idea I got from listening to The Ultimate Deepak Chopra Collection (audible.co.uk). Sesame oil is packed with antioxidants that are anti-ageing and the massage helps to boost circulation.
I’ve been doing it for a year: my skin feels softer, it’s reduced the appearance of age spots and I feel energised after. It’s a small moment of mindfulness, which is even more important in these uncertain times.
YOUTHFUL GLOW RITUAL
I’m obsessed with Studio 10 Youth Lift Glow-plexion (£26, studio10beauty.com). It’s a golden liquid that you can mix with your moisturiser to create a luminous glow.
I find it’s brightening, but still subtle and easy to use. I combine it with the Studio Ten Age Repair Perfect Canvas SPF30 Foundation (£34), a creamy, natural-looking base — with light and dark tones to accentuate the cheekbones and jawline.
The brand is designed specifically for mature skin, which I think makes a big difference.

When I turned 50, I noticed my body changing. I wasn’t sure what was going on.
Then a friend recommended I see a herbalist, Jo Dunbar (botanicamedica.co.uk). She found I was peri-menopausal and needed to boost my oestrogen levels.
I wanted to use natural methods rather than HRT, so she prescribed a bespoke blend of different herbs, including black cohosh (£13.45 per week). It was a lifesaver, I take it every day and it’s helped to calm hot flushes, anxiety and brain fog.
Every morning at dawn, my husband and I go for a one-hour run with our dogs. I love being outside and it helps me keep fit.
Plus, in 2019, we adopted rescue donkeys, Star, 19, and Albert, 21. It’s something I’d always wanted to do, and it’s been a real adventure.
We had to do a two-week course to learn how to look after them. Every day we feed, groom and muck them out. In life, you must keep trying new things.
