The American Australian Association Arts Awards Dinner supports relief efforts for bushfires 

Last night the American Australian Association (AAA) held their 2020 American Australian Association Arts Awards at the Skylight Modern in New York City.   

This year’s Arts Awards Dinner was dedicated to supporting relief efforts for the severe bushfires that have affected communities and towns across Australia.

Kylie Minogue, Peter Carey, and Jacob Elordi were all honored at the fundraiser.

Established in 1948, the American Australian Association is the largest privately funded non-profit organization dedicated to broadening, strengthening and developing ties across the Pacific through its business, innovation, education, veterans and arts programs. 

The AAA has to date awarded more than $1 million in grants to emerging or early career Australian and Americans who show promise in the arts. 

Former honoree and actor, Naomi Watts presented Kylie Minogue and filmmaker, author and producer Michael Maher presented novelist Peter Carey this year’s awards for their contribution to the cause.  

Kylie wore a purple asymmetrical gown by Ralph & Russo, while Naomi opted for a black jumpsuit by Maticevski.

Katie Holmes, Deborra-Lee Furness, Jake Shears, and more celebs looked on as singer George Mapel kicked off the evening with a beautiful rendition of the US and Australia national anthems. 

Editor in Chief of InStyle Magazine, Laura Brown, emceed the event and actor/singer Zendaya presented the ‘Rising Star’ award to Australian actor, Jacob Elordi. 

Zendaya was the picture of perfection in a brown Christopher Esber gown featuring side cutouts, while Laura brightened up the evening in a floral Zimmermann frock. 

All funds raised at the black tie dinner will support Australian Bushfire Relief through the Australian Red Cross.

The event was presented by National Australia Bank, and in partnership with Pratt Foundation, News Corp and Bird in Hand.
