She’s known for her impeccable style on all royal occasions.

And today was no exception for Queen Letizia of Spain who cut an elegant figure in a pink pleated dress as she joined her husband King Felipe, 53, inauguration of Berlanguiano exhibition in Madrid.

Dressing for the Spanish summer, Letizia, 48, paired the dress with towering heels and sleek rope belt, while staying Covid-safe in face mask and minimal make-up.

The exhibit celebrates the centenary of the birth of late Spanish film director and screenwriter Luis García Berlanga 

Berlanga is regarded as one of the most significant writers of 20th century Spanish culture. The exhibition has been curated by Esperanza G. Claver to bring together more than 170 photographs from different archives and public and private photographic collections.

Looking glamorous for the occasion, Letizia  who opts for lighter colours in summer months, kept her dark hair long and down and sported a tunic-style dress with a drop waist.

Meanwhile, King Felipe opted for his signature striped suit and powder blue tie.

A champion of the arts, her outing comes as day after she opened the ‘Emilia Pardo Bazan: The challenge of modernity’ exhibition at the National library in Madrid this morning. 

The event celebrates the legacy of writer, critical thinker and journalist Emilia Pardo Bazan, who was one of the leading figures of Spanish literature in the 19th century.  

Mother-of-two Letizia enjoyed a long career in TV and newspaper reporting before marrying her husband King Felipe in 2004.

She worked for the La Nueva Espana before moving on to the ABC, a popular national newspaper. 

She then worked for the EFE news agency, a Mexican local paper Siglo 21, the Spanish version of Bloomberg, before moving to CNN+. 

When she met her husband-to-be, Letizia was working for the popular TV channel 24Horas as both a breaking news reporter and anchor for their popular Telediaro 2 evening news bulletin.

She met Felipe VI at a dinner party in 2002, and the pair enjoyed an instant connection, leading to their royal wedding in May 2004. 

The former newsreader is the granddaughter of a taxi driver and the eldest daughter of Jesús José Ortiz Álvarez, a journalist, and first wife María de la Paloma Rocasolano Rodríguez, a nurse and hospital union representative. 

She attended public high school and did a degree at the Complutense University of Madrid. She later gained an MA in Audiovisual Journalism at the Institute for Studies in Audiovisual Journalism.

King Juan Carlos abdicated in 2014 in favour of his son, now King Felipe VI.
