Ohio bus drivers arrange 22 yellow school buses to spell out ‘2020’ to congratulate graduates

Bus drivers for an Ohio school district have come together to bid a special goodbye to the Class of 2020 after being unable to congratulate them in person.

The drivers for Loveland City School District arranged 22 yellow school buses to spell out 2020 for the graduating class, and aerial photos and footage of the sweet gesture have been posted on the school district’s Facebook page.

‘This is a huge accomplishment and anyway we can show them some love, we will do it,’ said Jennifer Bloom Bowman. ‘So here’s to the Class of 2020. Your bus drivers are proud of all of you.’

The seven drivers came together in a school parking lot to arrange the buses into the numerals a week ago for this year’s 392 graduates.

‘Some of us have been around long enough to transport these kids since Kindergarten and some of us have only been working with the district for a few years, but the one thing we all have in common is the love for our students,’ Bloom Bowman explained.

After they formed the the numbers with the buses, they enlisted Jim Barrett, an art and photography teacher at Loveland High School, to get drone footage for social media.

‘Being a school bus driver is not just a job, it’s an adventure!’ added driver Michele Winter.

‘The love for our students is unconditional and each one will always hold a special place in our hearts. Every story, every hug, every laugh and every tear with them are memories and sometimes even lessons. To the kids of the past, the present and the future, this is for you!’

Winter and Bloom Bowman were also joined by Tara Patterson Hollandsworth, Kelli Czachor Ramsey, Lori Schultz-Stulz, Lindsay Centers, and Lisa Moorhead.

‘We’re the first face they see in the morning and the last one they see before they head home,’ Moorhead, a driver of 23 years and the district’s courier, told Good Morning America.

‘We share hugs, they tell us stories and make us laugh. We share a lot with these kids — probably more than people realize.’

Moorhead said many of the drivers transported a generation of children whose parents once rode the same yellow buses.
