Mum makes an incredible Christmas chimney out of cardboard boxes and $7 Kmart wrapping paper

As many families begin to put up Christmas decorations, a savvy Australian mum has been creative and made a chimney for her two children using cardboard boxes and brick wrapping paper from Kmart.

Flavia, from Brisbane, shared images to the Kmart Hacks & Décor Facebook group where she was praised by thousands of other parents.

‘Decorations ready in our home Christmas wonderland,’ she said online.

The DIY project was completed using seven rectangular cardboard boxes stacked and glued into the shape of a large brick chimney.

Once glued into the correct position, the $7 red brick paper was wrapped around each box.

Flavia said she only used one packet of the wrapping paper and had excess leftover in case she needed more.

The social media post received more than 2,300 ‘likes’ and 640 comments from other parents who praised the creative home project.

‘Brilliant! Such a clever idea,’ one person said.

Another added: ‘I want to do this for my kids.’

But Flavia wasn’t the only one who thought of the savvy ‘Christmas wonderland’ idea, as several others also shared images of their own chimney creations.

‘My sister made us [a chimney] for a family Christmas last year [but] she painted the boxes,’ one woman said.

‘I want to do it again but I really struggled with sticking the middle box to the side ones so not sure I want to put myself through that again,’ another said.

A third woman said she also made a North Pole Christmas train for a competition at work.
