Mother reveals how she lost 30 kilos in four months after her business made her obese

A woman has lost an impressive 30 kilos in only four months after she said her at-home business helped to make her obese.  

Katarina Yzel from Brisbane dropped from 96kg to 68kg without doing any strenuous exercise.

 She originally stacked on the weight while working from home as a virtual assistant.

She said she would drink up to six flat whites a day – or 1.5 litres of full cream milk.

This was combined with giving birth to two young children and finding out her youngest child had autism and ADHD.

‘I completely lost track of myself when I had kids,’ Katarina told FEMAIL.

‘I was under a lot of stress trying to manage the household while my husband was working full time, plus juggling my own businesses, and life got busier especially when my younger son was diagnosed.’

Katarina’s family became her priority and she was regularly putting them first.

‘I didn’t spend time looking after myself, I rushed my own meals (if I had time to eat) and I stopped looking after “me” because I simply had no time,’ she said.

‘I was taking my son to a lot of appointments; I was so time poor. I mean, it was not uncommon to have over 10 appointments per week for him.

‘I went on a rough emotional ride and I put on weight because I wasn’t eating properly.’

Running two businesses from home – one admin based and the other a mind set coaching business – meant that Katarina sat down with clients on the phone or via Skype and would drink a lot of coffee to get her through the day.

‘I’ve never been a binge-eater, and my meals were fairly healthy, but I drank six to eight cups of coffee in a day,’ she said.

‘Drinking over six flat whites was my biggest downfall. It meant I was drinking over 1.5L of milk a day!

‘Plus, when you’re snacking on your kids’ leftover breakfast or lunch, not having exercise as one of your priorities, having big dinners to cure the hunger at the end of the day and getting older, all that really stuffed up my metabolism and the weight just kept piling on.’  

What was her diet then?

Breakfast:  Three cups of coffee with full cream milk

Morning tea: Three coffees

Lunch: The kids’ leftover food, such as toast, pasta and rice

Dinner: Meat with vegetables and she would snack on her kids’ chips

Katarina still drinks a lot of coffee every day, but she has switched to black coffee now so she doesn’t put the weight back on – and limits it.

She has also found she doesn’t rely on it as much now she has a new love for herbal teas.  

Since simplifying her foods, she’s able to eat lunch without it taking too much of her time and is snacking on protein rich food such as tuna, chicken or egg instead of the kid’s leftovers.

After resetting her metabolism she finds she doesn’t need a big dinner anymore to feel full. 

‘The women who join the program are amazing at juggling what life throws at them, and they are all looking for one thing, and that’s to feel better in their skin – weather they feel they need a 20 kilo weight loss or just five kilos to get there,’ she said.
