Here is our Day4-6 Vlog during NYFW! We started our day at The Bowery Hotel to see Amir Taghi’s Press Preview, and we had lunch at Gemma. This season, we love the color palette, lots of reds, greens & houndstooth. Lots of fun fabrics & patterns. Delia met Amir at the Vogue Forces of Fashion Conference. He worked at Monse, and has now gone out on his own and started his company. Inspiration for the collection came from fabric from his Texas home. Delia and Alison gravitate towards different pieces, which is interesting. The collection is wearable. There is a leg o’ mutton sleeve, but not too girly. Dramatic, but simple. Lovely collection!
Next, we got manicures & pedicures at Jin Soon (our interview with her here:
We recapped the last couple of days: We went to the Jason Wu F19 Presentation in Soho. There were gorgeous flowers from Putnam & Putnam. The colors in the collection were gorgeous, feminine, and airy. Totally red carpet ready! After, we went to the Chiara Boni La Petite Robe show. The collection had mostly dresses + jumpsuits and tops. Her pieces make a woman look sexy, but classy and beautiful. The models wore hats, and she had a song playing about La Petite Robe. Lots of women dressed up in her clothing to attend the show. These are body conscious dresses.
Difference in Fashion Week this time versus last time: last time, Delia was reaching out as still on the buying team at Barneys. This time, we are a season past that. We are getting great responses. Once you are on the list, you get invited the next season. If we didn’t have a market appointment, when we see the team at the shows & presentations, the brands say we should schedule one! People know who we are more now, so we don’t have to explain in every meeting. They are asking us back, asking us to host events, etc!
Day 5: We went backstage at the Tibi show. Aveda does the hair, Bobbi Brown does the makeup and Jin Soon does the nails. We watched as the lead makeup artist talked us through the skincare for Backstage Beauty: 1. start with Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Tonic for moisture & cleansing, next is a Hydrating Face Cream to prep the skin, 3. Lip Balm to hydrate the lips 4. Hydrating Eye Cream under the eye so concealer stays on. The Jin Soon nail look had both metallic sliver sparkles/glitter and matte. We ate a healthy brunch at Clover Cafe. Next was our Voz Market Appointment. Before the show, the hair, makeup and nail team get together with the stylist to choose the look. We were glad to see the Tibi Founder Amy Smilovic backstage. It is a crazy hustle & bustle when the models get their hair & makeup done, sometimes all at once. They may be running late because they are coming from another show. Then, everyone has to have the rehearsal, the models are trying to grab a bite to eat, people are trying to interview them, etc.
Next, we have the Prabal Gurung show. This is a relationship we continue to grow, because we are obsessed with him & his designs. We saw the Vogue Team, and more editors, and all the retail teams. He had Ashley Graham, Winnie Harlow and Bella Hadid in his show. His show was a celebration, very upbeat. He took us on a trip back to the 1970s in a Globe Trotting way. The show was diverse in color & size, and has both Men’s & Women’s now. He is spreading his message of inclusivity, kindness and integrity. The set for the show was really colorful. There were feather pieces, it was light & airy.
Day 6: We started the day with an appointment with Carolyn Rowan. Next, we went to Network showroom to see SemSem, Jeffrey Levinson, Moonology and Ximena Kavalekas. We grabbed coffee at ABC Kitchen. After, we went to a market appointment at Polly King Showroom for a meeting with sunglasses brand, Le Specs. Alison wore a sweater by Libertine. We went to the Veronica Beard presentation (where we saw Molly Sims) as well as the Anna Sui runway show.
