A home cook has shared his simple trick for cooking the perfect fluffy, ‘cloud eggs’. The father cracked a whole egg into a non-stick pan, which was sitting on his kitchen benchtop. Then he proceeded to whisk the egg whites with his hand, avoiding the yolk, until firm peaks form

The man started off by cracking a whole egg directly into a dry, clean non-stick pan, which was sitting on his kitchen benchtop.

Then he proceeded to whisk the egg whites with his hand, avoiding the yolk, until firm peaks form.

The man did not explain how long it took to whisk the egg whites. Whisking whites by hand to a thick and fluffy consistency requires tremendous arm strength and can take between 12 to 18 minutes.

The home cook then moved the pan to a hot stove where he fried the eggs until the whites are firm, yolk set but still runny and the base crisp around the edges.

To serve, he seasoned the fluffy, pillow-like egg with salt, pepper and dried herbs.

The video has since been viewed more than 4.8 million times, with dozens of people saying they are keen to try the cloud eggs.

However, not everyone was on board with the idea, with many asking: ‘Why can’t you just cook the egg?’

‘I’m not whisking the egg for 10 minutes just so I can eat it in one minute,’ one said.

Another woman revealed she tried the recipe at home but you actually need more egg whites than just one that was suggested in the video.

‘Guys I tried it. A regular eggs does not have enough white to make the big cloud. And it just tastes like scrambled eggs,’ she explained.

Many suggested there were easier and faster ways to whisk egg whites like removing the yolk and using an electric beater before pouring the mixture into a pan.

Fluffy cloud eggs with a yellow sun-like yolk centre has been a social media trend for many years.

In order to create the Instagrammable dish, many are separating the yolks into a separate bowl and whipping the remaining whites in another.

Instead of frying, they dollop large spoonfuls of the fluffy egg whites on a baking sheet, make a small well in the middle of each and pop in the oven for five to eight minutes just before they start to brown.

The home cooks then pour one yolk into the well, and return to the oven to bake until the yolk start to set while still being runny.
