Celebrity chef Aldo Zilli has revealed Prince George‘s favourite food – the Mediterranean classic, spaghetti carbonara.

Italian born Aldo, 64, who now lives in Surrey and is an ambassador for the youth homeless charity Centrepoint, told how he’s had a number of encounters with Prince William, 38, who is patron of the organisation.

During their chats over the years, Aldo told how the Duke of Cambridge talked animatedly about his three children – and revealed his seven-year-old’s meal of choice.

‘[William’s] amazing – I’m waiting for the call because apparently his little boy’s favourite is spaghetti carbonara, so I’m waiting for the call to go and cook it for him,’ Aldo told FEMAIL.

‘[William] is an absolute gent. He’ll come over to you, speak to you about – he knows everything about everyone. That’s what I like about people like that, before they come over to you they make sure they know who you are and what you do for a living, it’s a very intelligent thing to do.

‘He’s such a great, great guy, I’m a big fan of the Royal Family.’

Cheeky Aldo added: ‘If George has my carbonara, he will never have another one, so I need to go and make it, let’s get the ball rolling, send me to the palace to cook!’

Aldo, who is married to actress and singer Nikki Zilli, 45, with whom he shares two children, Rocco, 14, and Twiggy, 12, is fronting Centrepoint’s latest campaign to highlight the realities of homelessness, especially at Christmas – a cause that’s especially close to his heart.

One of nine children, he was born in the small seaside town of Alba Adriatica in the central Italian region of Abruzzo, and moved to Germany when he was 16 to ‘follow his dream’ to work abroad.

But when he failed to find work, Aldo quickly ran out of money and ended up living on the freezing streets for a month during a particularly harsh winter.

‘I hadn’t finished school, I decided to leave my village that had nothing to offer,’ Aldo recalled. ‘Mum gave me money for the train, I had a lot of offers from people I knew in Germany.

‘I got on a train with friends… but when we got there, we couldn’t find anyone. The money I had in my pocket lasted a couple of days, we couldn’t call anyone, there were no mobile phones or the Internet in those days.’

With no cash to get back on the train home, Aldo ended up sleeping in phone boxes and petrol stations – and dined on discarded pizza from the back of a restaurant on Christmas Day.

He eventually found work after he got talking to a kitchen porter who was putting the bins out, and told him to come back in a week as there might be a job going.

Aldo said the nearest he's ever come to going 'back to his roots' was doing Channel 4's Celebrity Hunted last year - which he won with fellow chef Jean-Christophe Novelli (pictured together on Good Morning Britain)

Aldo said the nearest he’s ever come to going ‘back to his roots’ was doing Channel 4’s Celebrity Hunted last year – which he won with fellow chef Jean-Christophe Novelli (pictured together on Good Morning Britain)

‘That was my saviour,’ he said. ‘Sometimes eating out of the bins helps! It sounds like a film now, all those years ago.’

Aldo, who moved to London in his late teens, said the nearest he’s ever come to going ‘back to his roots’ was doing Channel 4’s Celebrity Hunted last year – which he won with fellow chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.

‘They give you two weeks on the streets with no money and you have to find yourself somewhere to sleep,’ he explained. ‘I got the taste again, it was really scary and I realised again how scary it must be for these kids.’

Aldo also faced a worrying time earlier this year, when the UK went into lockdown.

His career was flourishing; he was a consultant for 22 restaurants all around the country, he’d just opened a restaurant in China for a client, and had lucrative sponsors and TV projects in the pipeline with Novelli. Then suddenly, everything ground to an abrupt halt.

Aldo told how he was faced with the alarming prospect of being unable to pay the mortgage for their family home.

Aldo is encouraging people to donate to Centrepoint, adding: 'While most of us worry about supermarket queues and buying enough stuffing to feed the family, many homeless young people will be spending Christmas alone, scared and without a decent meal'

‘I got scared again,’ he said. ‘I thought,”What am I going to do now?” I had to start from scratch again.’

Having started to cook meals for the local hospital, Aldo and Nikki set up a food takeaway and delivery service, Casa Zilli, which is now going from strength to strength.

But while Aldo has 50 orders to contend with on Christmas Eve and deserves to put his feet up on Christmas Day, he said he’s more than willing to go and cook at a Centrepoint shelter on December 25, should they need him.

‘While most of us worry about supermarket queues and buying enough stuffing to feed the family, many homeless young people will be spending Christmas alone, scared and without a decent meal,’ he said.

‘I encourage everyone to spare a thought for people in need this Christmas, and if they are able, to consider making a donation to Centrepoint in order to help them.’

Last Christmas 24,000 young people faced spending the festive season without a home, and the figure is expected to rise this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Centrepoint is encouraging people to resist buying food they don’t need this Christmas, and instead gift a homeless young person with a warm, comforting meal through its website, which you can do by donating just £10.

Isabel Rice, senior dietitian at Centrepoint, said: ‘The pandemic has definitely affected homeless young people and the food they are able to access.

‘We have seen a rise in hardship of young people, many of whom have lost their jobs or support networks. When many of us were panic buying, they were having to use more expensive corner shops rather than travelling to larger cheaper supermarkets, and this has affected their ability to get the food they need.

‘Christmas is different for every homeless young person. Some are able to spend time with family or friends, but some don’t have that support and are isolated.

‘We worry that lots of homeless young people who would usually gather in groups may not be able to do so this year, or if they’d generally stay with older relatives, they may not be able to do that.’

Centrepoint CEO, Seyi Obakin OBE added: ‘This Christmas most of us will be able to join with our loved ones in person or via the internet to enjoy the festivities.

‘But in doing so it can be easy to forget that not everyone has that same support network or even a safe space to sleep. The pandemic has seen a dramatic increase in youth homelessness so we need help now more than ever to support and protect vulnerable young people and help them have a brighter New Year.’

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will spend Christmas ‘quietly’ at Windsor Castle and will not form a ‘bubble’ with any other family members.

The Queen 94, and Prince Philip, 99, traditionally spend the festive season with close family at Sandringham, in Norfolk. But this year they will forgo the festivities and remain at Windsor Castle, where they have been isolating with a ‘bubble’ of staff since October.

It is understood the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will not take advantage of the relaxed Covid restrictions to form a Christmas bubble with other households.

It means the couple face spending Christmas Day without any of their four children for the first time since 1949, when the then Princess Elizabeth left a one-year-old Charles in the UK so she could be with Prince Philip in Malta.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will spend Christmas at Highgrove, in Gloucestershire, although they expect to see the Queen and Prince Philip at Windsor at some point over the festive season. Camilla will also spend time with her family.

In Tier 2 regions, like Windsor, up to six people from different households are able to mix outdoors. This means the Queen and Prince Philip could meet with family members for horse riding or walks in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The couple are well accustomed to spending Christmas at Windsor Castle, having spent holidays at the castle before moving the celebration to Sandringham in 1988.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are likely to spend Christmas either at Anmer Hall, in Norfolk, or at the Middleton family home in Berkshire.

Prince Edward, the Countess of Wessex and their children live at Bagshot Park, Surrey, while Princess Anne and her family live at Gatcombe Park, in Gloucestershire. Prince Andrew is the only one of the Queen’s four children who lives in Windsor.

The Queen won’t attend a church service on Christmas Day in order to prevent crowds gathering but is expected to worship privately in Windsor Castle’s private chapel.

How Princess Elizabeth travelled to Malta to spend Christmas with Prince Philip in 1949 – WITHOUT one-year-old Prince Charles

The Queen’s love affair with the island began in 1949 when Prince Philip was made First Lieutenant on HMS Chequers. Later that year, Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, suggested she joined her husband on Malta.

So after celebrating Prince Charles’s first birthday, the Princess flew to the island arriving on her second wedding anniversary, November 20.

It was truly a different world for the Princess. She handled cash for the first time and even enjoyed the novelty of visiting second-rate hairdressing salons.

‘They were magical days of endless picnics, sunbathing and waterskiing,’ says Lady Pamela in a rare interview. ‘Prince Philip was stunning. He really was. A sort of Greek god. And she was beautiful with that marvellous complexion.

‘The Princess really loved Malta because she was able to lead a normal life, wander through the town and do some shopping, and whenever the [British Navy] fleet came in we would rush to the Barrakka [the public gardens on the sea front] to see it – which was always a fantastic sight.’

Lady Pamela, 86, is the younger daughter of Earl Mountbatten of Burma, the last viceroy of India, who ruled it for George VI, our last king-emperor. Mountbatten was Prince Philip’s cousin.

His daughter, Lady Pamela, was the Queen’s bridesmaid and lady-in-waiting and is uniquely placed to recall just how much the Royal couple loved their Mediterranean island life. ‘It was the only place that she was able to live the life of a naval officer’s wife, just like all the other wives,’ Lady Pamela explains.

‘It was wonderful for her and it’s why they have such a nostalgia for Malta.’

For the Duke, newly reunited with his young wife during leave, the only fly in the ointment was the ever-present Bobo, who had been Elizabeth’s nurse since childhood, and is described by Lady Pamela as ‘terrifying’.

Prince Charles spent his second Christmas with his grandparents at Sandringham House while the Queen and Prince Philip were in Malta

Prince Charles spent his second Christmas with his grandparents at Sandringham House while the Queen and Prince Philip were in Malta

‘Prince Philip had quite a battle because Bobo used to sit at the end of the bath when the Princess was having a bath and have a gossip.

‘I think Philip had quite a battle to remove Bobo from the edge of the bath and make it possible for him to sit there.’

While his parents were in Malta for Christmas, the Prince of Wales was left with his grandparents King George VI and the Queen Mother at their Sandringham Home.

In a letter from the Queen Mother to the then Princess Elizabeth date marked 21 December 1949, she penned: ‘I went to see Charles yesterday & he seemed in very good form. I think that his teeth are worrying him a bit, but otherwise he is very well.’

A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said this afternoon: ‘Having considered all the appropriate advice, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have decided that this year they will spend Christmas quietly in Windsor.’

The Queen and Prince Philip are currently isolating at Windsor Castle, which is located in a Tier-2 area, after leaving Norfolk for the month-long lockdown.

Prince Philip and the Queen have spent the year with a specially screened household dubbed ‘HMS Bubble’.

The Queen and the Duke had a summer holiday at Balmoral in August, but spent less than half their normal 10 weeks in Scotland due to coronavirus restrictions that limited visits from family and friends.

Prince Philip then wanted to return to Wood Farm and, in an unusual move, the Queen decided to join him before returning to Windsor last month.

When she returned to Windsor alone at the start of October, the plan was for her to commute between Norfolk, Windsor and Buckingham Palace where she could have official engagements.

Seemingly, however, that has proved unworkable, and her only Royal visit has been a trip to the Porton Down military research laboratory near Salisbury.

The Queen has, however, found time for horse riding and has been spotted out in Windsor in recent days.

Earlier today the Queen donned a cosy tan coloured coat and head scarf as she rode out on her favourite black horse alongside her head groom Terry Pendry.

Throughout the pandemic, head groom Terry has ensured the royal’s ponies are ready and that he keeps two metres from his boss during their rides.

All protective disinfectant measures are taken, particularly for the horse’s saddle and bridle.

A devoted team of 22 staff have been working throughout this year to provide a protective shield around Elizabeth and Prince Philip, which Windsor Castle colleagues are calling ‘HMS Bubble’.

It includes her favourite page Paul Whybrew – with whom she is so comfortable that they often watch TV together, and who co-starred in her James Bond skit for the London Olympics Opening Ceremony – as well as chefs, cleaners and officials.

Led by master of the household Tony Johnstone-Burt and the queen’s private secretary, Edward Young, the team have willingly agreed to live away from their own families for the duration of the lockdown.

It means they can serve the monarch and her husband without needing protective equipment such as gloves and masks, or to abide by social-distancing guidelines.

American mothers are sharing the shocking price of giving birth in the US, revealing their hospital bills and how long it took them to pay them off.

TikTok user Ms. Lily Flowers kicked things off on the app on November 20, sharing a short video in which she asked, ‘How old was your baby when you paid off your hospital bill?’

After she revealed that she’s finally paid hers off ahead of her kid’s second birthday, other US-based mothers shared their own shocking costs — while mothers from Australia, Canada, and the UK gloated about their own healthcare systems.

Comments poured in on the original video, with women revealing the astronomical bills they received.

‘My bill for my [preemie] son born in 2002 was $2.75 million,’ wrote a woman named Angela.

‘My son was born in January, and I had a $6,500 deductible plus 30% coinsurance, so my bill was over 10. He’s almost 6 now, not paid off,’ said another mom.

Yet another mother said that even with insurance, her bill was $12,000 — and it didn’t get paid off until her daughter was seven.

A teacher said she has ‘pretty good insurance’ so she only owed $5,000, while another woman still owes $4,000 for her son.

‘My bill for 1st was $8,000, second was $5,000,’ said one more.

Some women even posted duets in which they shared their grand totals, including Abby Govea, who included an image of her $26,000 hospital bill from several years ago.

Meanwhile, user @laysamichelle_ got a bill for a whopping $80,000 after her son Noah was born premature and spent eight days in the NICU. He is now three years old and she is still paying.

As if the women posting needed any more reason to be upset about their bills, women from other countries have taken the opportunity to sing the praises of universal healthcare.

TikTokers from Canada, Australia, the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Greenland, New Zealand, and more all posted gloating videos declaring that they paid absolutely nothing for childbirth, with all of their expenses covered by their countries’ healthcare systems.

‘Everything related to pregnancy and delivery is free here in Iceland,’ wrote one.

BAFTA-winning British writer Michaela Coel says she stuggles to get her head around the fact that some people ‘fetishize’ race, including her own friends.

Speaking on the Grounded with Louis Theroux podcast on BBC Sounds, the I May Destroy You writer said she finds it bizarre when close friends will only date black men, saying ‘it sounds like you’re only part relating to a human’.

In the frank discussion with documentary maker Theroux, Coel, who also wrote hit Channel 4 series Chewing Gum, said she’d made peace with the fact that women she adores were guilty of fetishizing ‘black d***’.

Theroux is heard asking: ‘I saw you said you’ve got friends – white friends – who say “I’ve got a thing for black guys”. And you’re not a fan of that attitude?’

The writer, who grew up in London’s Tower Hamlets, and attended free drama classes as a child before being encouraged to try and win a place at drama school, said: ‘I really struggle with “I like a particular general group”, because for me, it sounds like you’re only part relating to a human.’

When asked to elaborate by Theroux on why she found it strange that people have a type based on race, she explained: ‘What I have to learn… because some of the women that I adore In my life, have these views, I have to sort of draw a line and go: “you know what? I don’t have a black d*** for you to fetishize. This is actually none of my business. It’s not my black d*** that you’re desperate for.’

Coel added that she’d ‘always found it really strange’ when someones says: ‘I just love black women’, saying ‘…then I’m like, so are you with me because you like me or am I really lucky I happen to be born black, because if I wasn’t, you wouldn’t look twice at me, by having this positive discrimination, so what do you think of all the other women?’

Twelve-part series I May Destroy You became the TV hit of the summer, hailed as a ‘masterpiece’ by critics and viewers alike.

The series fearlessly dived into hard-hitting issues affecting the lives of young London-based writer Arabella (Michaela Coel) and her friends Terry (Weruche Opia) and Kwame (Paapa Essiedu).

The show explored consent from every angle, starting with Arabella’s sexual assault in a nightclub bathroom, a storyline rooted in Coel’s harrowing real-life trauma.

She told Theroux that her own aggressor was never found and that she suffered similar flashbacks to the ones experienced by the character of Arabella.

Coel, born Michaela Ewuraba Boakye-Collinson, grew-up with her mother Marion, 53, a mental health liaison officer, and older sister, Jasmine, 35, in a council estate in Tower Hamlets, east London. Her parents, both Ghanaian immigrants, had separated before she was born.

The writer has previously spoken of how they were one of only a handful of black families in the building. It wasn’t until secondary school that she made friends with other Black children, many of them also from immigrant backgrounds.

Together with these friends, Coel would make up ‘stupid songs’, perhaps the first hint of her writing career. Aged 18 Coel joined a dance troupe linked to the Pentecostal church, to which she became devoted.

Coel left London to study political sciences at the University of Birmingham but later dropped out to dedicate herself to religion. It was through her faith that Coel first experimented with spoken word poetry, writing a verse about her love of Jesus.

Encouraged by actor and playwright Ché Walker, whom she met on the London open mic circuit, Coel enrolled in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she wrote the 45-minute one-woman show Chewing Gum Dreams that would grow to become her breakout Channel 4 TV show, Chewing Gum.

If you are looking for an affordable and effective way to tackle fine lines and wrinkles, this facial serum from L’Oréal Paris is a great place to start.

Amazon’s Cyber Monday sale may have finished last night, but there are still a number of markdowns on some of the mega-retailer’s bestselling beauty products.

Today you can save a massive 48 per cent on the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Filler Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Costing just £13 (originally £24.99), this serum is at its lowest price ever on Amazon right now.

There are also plenty of other L’Oréal Paris skincare products that are on sale too. Top picks include 57 per cent off the Revitalift Laser Renew Pro-Xylane Anti-Ageing Day Cream (now £9.71), and the top-rated Pure Clay Black Charcoal Detox Face Mask is now under a fiver.

But it’s the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Filler Hyaluronic Acid Serum Revitalift Filler that we suggest you add to your basket ASAP.

Its no-nonsense formulation, which blends two types of hyaluronic acid for double anti-ageing action, is suitable for all skin types and has had its efficiency proven by clinical studies.

Having won over the hearts of skincare fanatics in the US, with one sold every minute, the hyaluronic serum from L’Oréal Paris is now receiving praise from UK customers for its ability to replenish parched complexions and reduce fine lines.

‘This product certainly seems to be effective in plumping out lines/creases in my cheeks and around the mouth,’ one shopper wrote in their review on Amazon.

‘I have been most impressed. A couple of minutes after application, I feel a tightening effect, and I’m not sure what that is about, but my lines have definitely lightened inside a month of use.

The L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Filler 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum contains a formula featuring a powerful balance that has been expertly created with a 1.5 per cent concentration

‘Love this product,’ another shopper commented. ‘It’s hydrating, soothing, reduces bags and fine lines.’

A third customer added: ‘Applying this serum for twice a day has improved my skin immensely.’

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a humectant that can hold 1,000 times its weight in water. The natural and non-irritating acid is found in our skin and helps keep our bodies hydrated. But as we age, the amount of this acid in our bodies decreases.

To compensate for the loss of hyaluronic acid, the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Filler 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum is infused with a high concentration of the buzzy ingredient that plumps the skin, helping to minimise fine lines and wrinkles.

On top of giving your skin a hit of hydration, it also helps even out texture, tone, and leaves complexions smoother with an allover glow.

Ivanka Trump cut a stylish figure in a budget-friendly camel suit from the fast-fashion retailer Zara when she headed to work on Tuesday morning.

The 39-year-old White House senior adviser stepped out of the front gate of her Washington, D.C. home around 9:45 a.m. wearing a floral face mask and carrying a black quilted Lady Dior bag — a style beloved by her mother Ivana Trump.

Ivanka’s outfit was a mix of high and low as she paired her off-the-rack pantsuit with a designer handbag that costs a whopping $5,500.

Style in suiting like Ivanka with a camel blazer from Zara

Ivanka Trump was spotted stepping out of her home in Washington D.C. in a look that may be familiar to fans of the first daughter’s style.

The 39-year-old donned a Zara pantsuit, which she has been seen wearing before. In a contemporary and chic camel tone, the suit is as professional as it is feminine.

In the past, Ivanka has used this suit as part of a head-to-toe monochrome look. This time, she paired the blazer and matching straight-leg pants over a black turtleneck and black pumps. She also added a patterned face mask to complete her look.

Unfortunately, Zara’s stock turns over quickly and Ivanka’s exact blazer is no longer available. Though the retailer hasn’t abandoned its camel suiting entirely!

She treated the bag as a briefcase of sorts and carried her MacBook laptop in it as she headed out the door.

Ivanka wore her over-size camel blazer over a sleek black turtleneck and topped off her outfit with a pair of classic black pumps, which peeked out from underneath her pleated dress pants as she walked to the Secret Service vehicle that was parked outside of her home.

It somewhat of a repeat look for Ivanka, who donned the pantsuit last November to fly to Austin, Texas, with her father, President Donald Trump, to visit Apple’s manufacturing plant.

Added touch: The First Daughter topped off the look with a floral face mask and her $5,500 Lady Dior handbag that she used to carry her MacBook laptop

However, while she opted for black accents on Tuesday, she had on head-to-toe camel for the trip, including a tan wool coat over her suit jacket.

On both occasions her long blonde hair was center-parted and styled poker straight, her go-to hairstyle while working, though her locks are far longer now than when she was sporting a sharp bob last year.

Ivanka has kept a relatively low profile since her father lost the election, often leaving her home in a Secret Service SUV straight from her garage, which she did on Monday. But the next day, she back to waltzing out of her front gate.

The First Daughter and her husband Jared Kushner celebrated Thanksgiving last week at Camp David — the presidential retreat near Thurmont, Maryland — with their three children, Arabella, nine, Joseph, seven, and Theodore, four.

Ivanka marked the occasion by sharing a family photo that shows her holding Theodore on her hip as she poses with her arm around Joseph’s shoulder.

They were all dressed comfortably in sweaters aside from Arabella, who had on a short-sleeve dress.

The host of the BBC‘s You, Me And The Big C podcast has shared a candid photograph as she struggled with pain after having a cancer operation.

The BBC podcaster Deborah James, 39, from London, known as Bowel Babe, has had 17 tumours in her lifetime and was told in January she was cancer-free.

However the married mother-of-two said doctors discovered news signs of her bowel cancer which required surgery and she underwent an operation earlier this week.

After initially saying the surgery had ‘gone well’, she posted a photo today on Instagram as she rested her head in her hands and writing: ‘Last night was tough…It’s all about pain management and I’m not very good at that because I hate feeling out of it on the strong stuff.’

She posted: ‘I’ve had a lot of operations but thoraric surgery for pain I find is always the worst.’

She continued to say the pain ‘creeps up on you’, saying: ‘It’s all about finding a balance.’

Later she shared a clip as she spoke about her challenging few hours, saying: ‘Fair to say I had a rough night.

‘Post operative pleuratic chest pain is the worst. And not managing pain properly – it comes back to bite you.’

The mother-of-two and podcaster said she was struggling to manage her pain after her operation earlier this week

The mother-of-two and podcaster said she was struggling to manage her pain after her operation earlier this week

She continued: ‘Really fine balance between not wanting to be out of it and the pain killer side effects and the pain.

‘I get the balance wrong. I thought I could just take parcetamol and it would be fine. But then to get back on top of it takes an extra effort.’

Earlier this week, she told Instagram followers her operation ‘went well’ and that she has been ‘let out early for good behaviour’.

She added: ‘Back to parents for a few days for a bit of TLC and less risk of infection from my walking little ”snot bags” (who I can’t wait to see very soon!)

‘I got four hours’ sleep. It felt like 40! I feel like I’ve been in a haze for four days.

‘Everything is a bit blurry. But I do know I cried on a lot of people!

The host of the BBC's You, Me And The Big C podcast, had earlier said the operation 'went well' and she had been released from hospital

The host of the BBC’s You, Me And The Big C podcast, had earlier said the operation ‘went well’ and she had been released from hospital

‘But ”Hasta la Vista” (baby’ tumour numero 17 (I think!)…’

Remaining typically upbeat, she said the disease was ‘stable’ thanks to a suite of ground-breaking drugs.

Speaking ahead of surgery last week to remove a small cancerous ‘node’ in her chest, she said: ‘Everything else is in a positive place… I don’t have any other signs of cancer in my body.

‘My cancer is stable – and that’s because of these drugs.’

The drugs include Braftovi, which has just been approved for use on the NHS in combination with another drug. Miss James has been taking the non-chemotherapy drugs since August last year. ‘I am alive thanks to these drugs,’ she said.

Deborah said she has seen ‘many friends’ who she met through cancer die in the four years since her diagnosis. One was a fellow host of the podcast, Rachael Bland, who died of breast cancer in 2018, aged 40.

Surviving when others passed away has, she admitted, made her feel ‘guilty’ but at the same time ‘grateful to be alive’.

Despite the return of her cancer – which had already required operations to remove 15 tumours and 24 rounds of chemotherapy plus radiotherapy – she has set her sights on a trio of achievements next year: to run the London Marathon again, celebrate her 40th birthday and reach the five-year mark of living with cancer.

The ex-deputy headteacher, now a bestselling author and columnist, said: ‘On paper, I shouldn’t be doing any of that. So to do so would be quite cool.’

The cancer first reappeared in May, when two cancerous lymph nodes were removed. The latest is in a third node.

Approval by drugs regulators means about 1,400 advanced bowel cancer patients will now get the Braftovi combination. Miss James said it would bring hope to thousands.

SYMPTOMS OF BOWEL CANCER

Bowel, or colorectal, cancer affects the large bowel, which is made up of the colon and rectum.

Such tumours usually develop from pre-cancerous growths, called polyps.

Symptoms include:

  • Bleeding from the bottom
  • Blood in stools
  • A change in bowel habits lasting at least three weeks
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Extreme, unexplained tiredness
  • Abdominal pain

Most cases have no clear cause, however, people are more at risk if they:

  • Are over 50
  • Have a family history of the condition
  • Have a personal history of polyps in their bowel
  • Suffer from inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn’s disease
  • Lead an unhealthy lifestyle

Treatment usually involves surgery, and chemo- and radiotherapy.

More than nine out of 10 people with stage one bowel cancer survive five years or more after their diagnosis.

This drops significantly if it is diagnosed in later stages.

According to Bowel Cancer UK figures, more than 41,200 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in the UK.

It affects around 40 per 100,000 adults per year in the US, according to the National Cancer Institute.

With just 24 days to go until Christmas, the clock is ticking to find those perfect gifts for your loved ones.

Luckily Amazon is on hand to help you through the confusion with a special ‘Christmas’ department ready to guide you through the top festive gifts for 2020. Whether you’re looking for the best toys, tech or homeware, there is plenty of inspiration to be found.

If you’re searching for the perfect gift for foodies, or for the person who has everything, then we recommend you make a bee-line straight for the Le Creuset Enamelled Cast Iron Heart-Shaped Casserole Dish. Now reduced from £169 to £135.20, it’s currently enjoying a significant saving on the site.

This Le Creuset Enamelled Cast Iron Heart-Shaped Casserole Dish is now 20 per cent off on Amazon - it could make the perfect Christmas gift for the foodie in your life

The favourite French cookware brand is known for being the gold standard of cookware, but its quality does come with a price.

However, we’ve spotted a few top Le Creuset products in Amazon’s sale, with discounts across the brand’s signature enamelled cast iron casserole dish and the grillit frying pan. If you’re looking to up your cooking game or seriously impress someone this Christmas, they’re a savvy investment.

One of the most charming additions to the Le Creuset range is surely the cast iron heart shaped casserole dish. Not only is it a real showpiece, but it’s the ultimate vessel to cook all your winter meals. It’s perfect for showing off over the festive season.

The signature cast iron not only heats ingredients quickly and keeps the food warmer for longer, but it’s incredibly versatile and can be used in the over, under the grill and on all hob types.

From casseroles and one-pot roasts to pasta, curry and even bread and cakes, the Le Creuset cast iron casserole dish is a wonderful bit of kit that will see you through a lifetime of cooking and baking.

The showstopping dish would make a thoughtful gift this Christmas

The dish is ideal for cooking everything from casseroles to curries, and pasta to cakes

The Le Creuset casserole pot can withstand any temperature and is suitable for ovens, grills and all hob types including induction

While it is admittedly an investment, there is little that comes close to the quality of Le Creuset. The lifetime guarantee is a testament to the quality. So while expensive, it will outlast cheaper grills.

Plus, thanks to the signature enamel finish, it behaves like a non-stick finish which makes cleaning up a breeze.

One Amazon shopper called it a ‘joy’, writing in their review: ‘This was my first Le Creuset and the hype is well deserved. Only used it once but literally been blown away. It cooked my ragu to perfection, without burning anything.

‘The cleaning was just too easy, just had to wipe off with warm water. No more spending an eternity to clean a pot, and this made the whole experience of cooking that much more enjoyable.’

Hello, December.

While nobody knows what the next couple of months have in store for us, one thing is certain – temperatures will drop.

Now is the time to purchase a new pair of boots. To survive this winter in style and keep your feet warm and dry, FEMAIL rounds up weather-ready footwear trends, starting with the coziest.

Slide on it: Whether you're making a coffee run at the local bodega or partaking in COVID safe après ski activity, a pair of shearling boots is essential for winter 2020

Comfy cozy boots

Whether you’re making a coffee run at the local bodega or partaking in COVID safe après ski activity, a pair of shearling boots is essential for winter 2020.

This season, the trend in cozy boots is seeing two height differentials: cropped (as seen on Emily Ratajkowski) and classic midi (spotted on Gisele Bunchen).

Cropped boots like Emily’s by Ugg silde on easy and their shearling inner (a thermostatic material) regulates the body temperature, keeping the wearer warm.

To get the look right, treat the footwear the same way you would a sneaker. They look cute with jeans, leggings and even dresses.

With so many fashionable options of cozy winter boots on the market, styling them has never been easier.

While cropped silhouettes are fresh this season, don’t sleep on the classic shape.

A shearling boot that hits at the calf gives your look that perfect casual cool look, à la supermodel Gisele.

A pair in a neutral color has versatility but styles featuring lace detail (Bearpaw) or cute stitching (Mou) can instantly elevate an outfit with no extra effort.

Sleek pointed-toe boots

The trusty ankle boot has been all the rage for many years, but midcalf and knee-length boots are what’s hot right now.

Stars like Irina Shayk and Emily Ratajkowski have stepped out recently in sleek pointed-toe options.

Emily, 29, proved that chilly weather is no excuse to give up wearing dresses.

The soon-to-be mom styled her Aya Muse frock with red croc boots on October 26. The next day, she wore them with jeans, a blouse and camel coat.

Thirty-four year-old Irina made her Skims velour tracksuit look runway ready by pairing the grey set with boots in the same color.

While booties will always be a wardrobe staple, higher options feel a bit fresher at the moment.

For the ultimate street style look, wear them with a midi skirt.

Willow walked the red carpet in tall combat boots

Irina walked the streets in lace-up boots

Tall combat boots: With no big parties or events to attend this season, functional and practical footwear (with a twist) is in demand, as seen on Willow Smith and Irina

Tall combat boots

Combat boots have also grown a few inches this season.

With no big parties or events to attend this season, functional and practical footwear is in demand, as seen on Willow Smith and Irina.

Before walking the catwalk at Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 2 in Los Angeles, California, Willow Smith strutted her stuff on the carpet looking fierce.

The 19-year-old rocked a mostly all-black ensemble consisting of shorts, a graphic tee and an overcoat.

Her edgy and of-the-moment getup was made complete with the ultimate sign of youth rebellion: Dr. Martens ‘1B60 Virginia’ lace-up boots.

The shaft of the tall boot hits just below the knee keeping most of the leg covered, making shorts and skirts in cooler temps possible.

‘With the mask, I shampoo my hair, then coat it generously, and use my fingers to brush it through. I then clip it up and put a plastic shower cap over it, and just watch some TV for a couple of hours, then wash it off in cold water. It leaves my hair feeling so soft and shiny.’

Besides the fact that it actually works, what shoppers love the most is the mask’s appealing fruity scent.

‘This is the only hair product I’ve used for about six months, and my hair has never looked or felt better,’ added a second shopper. ‘I use it as a co-wash, conditioner and leave-in. It smells lovely too, and I’ve even had compliments on the smell of my hair (very weird, I know!)’

Infused with a combination of rich and nourishing antioxidants, banana and shea, it can be used as a conditioner, a hair mask or a leave-in treatment to create soft, moisturised, shiny and strengthened hair.

Garnier claims that users will experience up to four times less breakage after just one use

The hair mask boasts a 100 per cent vegan formula and is free from silicones for a natural feel

The lightweight formula is also vegan-friendly (no animal ingredients or by-products) and silicone-free, helping to minimise breakage and smooth the hair fibre without weighing it down.

And there’s no need to go overboard with the Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Banana 3-in-1 Dry Hair Mask Treatment as a little product goes a long way.

Use on damp hair and start by smoothing a fifty pence sized amount through your mid-lengths and ends, adding a little more if this does not cover all of your hair.

Leave on your hair for the recommended time so it can work its magic – in this case, three minutes. To finish, rinse thoroughly.
