Do you love shopping, but you buy all the wrong things or do you hate shopping and just buy the first thing you see to get it over with?
In this video, I am going to teach you how to shop so it saves you time, money and love what you buy.
Believe it or not, many women tell me that they hate shopping. There is nothing worse than trawling the malls, having to try on at least 10 items of clothing in front of fattening mirrors with horrible lighting… only to come home empty handed or with packets filled with clothing that are okey, but not great.
Here are my 5 steps to shopping effectively without the stress.
Step 1: Decide on the look you want to create. This will narrow your focus when you go shopping. Do you want cuts with clean, simple lines or do you want quirky pieces that express your creativity?
Step 2: Shop your own wardrobe first. Take a look at what you have in order to make a list of what you need.
Step 3: Now make a list. It may be a killer pair of heels, a classic pair of trousers or a fun printed blouse. Be as specific as you can. Becoming clear on what you are looking for makes it much easier to find and it makes shopping less overwhelming.
Step 4: Decide on 2 – 3 items to shop for at a time. Any more than that will make you feel overwhelmed. By narrowing your focus, it trains your brain to skim through a lot of stuff to find that gem you are looking for.
Step 5: Try different stores and different styles than what you are used to. Go to stores you’ve never dared to walk into before. If you are looking for a classic jacket, try a fitted style rather than a boxy shape, or a bold colour that will work with your wardrobe rather than just the usual black. You may be surprised. If you find this hard to do yourself, ask a trusted friend to go with you or use the services of a professional.
Take your time. You may not find everything in one shopping session, but don’t settle. Learning to shop effectively is worth the time and effort. It will save you a lot of frustration and money.
