Big W launches $15 linen shorts that rivals expensive brands Country Road costing six times price

Australian retailer Big W has unveiled a range of $15 linen shorts that rival similar versions costing six times the price.

The affordable summer apparel looks almost identical to Country Road’s $89.95 ‘organically grown’ linen shorts.

The budget shorts provide an affordable alternative to some of the more steeply priced brands, allowing shoppers to stroll into summer in style.

Both shorts from Big W and Country Road share many of the same features – including elasticated waist with drawcords and double side pockets.

The cheaper version is made with 55 per cent linen and 45 per cent viscose, and it’s said to ‘feel softer’ than 100 per cent linen fabrics.

The ‘breathable’ and ‘comfortable’ everyday shorts are less prone to wrinkling and easier to maintain, making it the perfect wardrobe staple for summer.

The Big W shorts, available in sizes six to 18, come in four different colours including cream white, green, blue and black.

The new range of shorts comes after shoppers went wild for a Kmart handbag that looks exactly like a high-end accessory costing almost 43 times the price.

The discount store’s $20 accessory is a near-perfect dupe of the iconic ‘Basket Bag’ from Spanish luxury fashion house Loewe, which is handwoven from palm and premium calf leather and costs $855 for the equivalent size.

Both bags have tan handles and a large patch emblazoned across the front, though Loewe’s design is stamped with the brand’s logo while Kmart’s is bare.

‘The $20 tote you didn’t know you needed from Kmart Australia,’ Sydney fashion blogger Dani, who posts as ‘Luxe and Lemonade’, wrote on Instagram.
