Bianca Dye reveals thing she wishes she knew before spending thousands of her life savings on IVF

Radio host Bianca Dye has revealed the one thing she wished she knew before spending thousands of her life savings on IVF.

The 46-year-old, from Queensland, has been on a heartbreaking journey to become a biological mother after suffering three miscarriages and more than 10 years of costly and gruelling rounds of IVF treatments.

She has been suffering from endometriosis and a lesser-known crippling condition known as adenomyosis, which affects the uterus wall.

In an interview with Channel Seven’s The Morning Show, Bianca said she hopes her story can inspire women with infertility issues to go get tested for these ‘hard to detect’ conditions.

‘If I could be the poster girl for “what not to do”… now that sounds tragic but if I can actually help people so they go and get tested for this,’ she said.

Speaking from her own experiences, Bianca said far too many women are unaware they have the disorder while trying to conceive a baby via IVF.

‘They go and spend their life savings on IVF and then they find out they are never going to be able to have a baby anyway because they’ve got endometriosis or adenomyosis,’ she said.

‘They don’t even know they’ve got it so that’s where I was. I’ve spent a lot of money on my life savings on IVF before I even knew I had this condition, which would’ve stopped me from having an embryo embed into this uterus wall.’

Bianca – who turns 47 next month – said she feels ‘very lucky’ to co-parent five-year-old Madison with her partner Jay Sandtner when the youngster isn’t with her mum.

Despite enjoying her role as a ‘step mum’ to little Maddy, Bianca said she still has hopes for having a child of her own after Cameron Diaz gave birth at the age of 47.

‘Please don’t feel sorry for me. Whenever I talk about this sort of journey, I get people going “Oh my god, you poor thing”. I’m ok,’ she said.

‘I’m very happy to be a step mum and I’ve accepted the fact that my journey might not be me being a biological mum to one, it might be the fact that on the radio, I’m a mother to many.’

Bianca begged young career-driven women to consider freezing their eggs.

‘I know so many young career girls who are single and they’re in their early 30s and they go “oh I’ll just wait”. Can I just tell you, I did that… and next minute, you’re 42 and then it becomes a lot harder,’ she said.

What is endometriosis and adenomyosis?

Endometriosis is a medical condition that occurs when the lining of the uterus, called the endometrium, grows in other places, such as the fallopian tubes, ovaries or along the pelvis.

When that lining breaks down, like the regular lining in the uterus that produces the menstruation, it has nowhere to go. This causes cysts, heavy periods, severe cramps and even infertility.

Adenomyosis is a condition in which the inner lining of the uterus (the endometrium) breaks through the muscle wall of the uterus (the myometrium).

It can cause menstrual cramps, lower abdominal pressure, and bloating before menstrual periods and can result in heavy periods.
