Stay Away From Fast Food
Yes, it can be tempting to join your friends at the local burger joint for a bite to eat, but fast food often means fast fat. If you are going to eat at a fast food place, look for healthy diet foods. Ask for nutrition information and never assume something is good for you because it looks the part. Set Goals and Keep Working Toward Them
Never start with the entire amount of weight you want to lose. Start with small attainable goals. For instance, if you want to lose 20 pounds set your first goal at five pounds. Or, your goal could be to be more physically active. Don't Skip Breakfast
This is one of the most important diet tips for teens to embrace. Breakfast is the foundation of your day. It gets your metabolism started and gives you the energy to start your day. If you don't have time for a big breakfast try a nutritious shake, fruit, and yogurt. You can always throw a piece of toast in there too. Get Moving
Exercise will boost your weight loss efforts and help get you in better shape. Plus, exercise can even make you feel better emotionally. Start off with some light low-impact exercises like walking or swimming. If you have been sedentary for awhile, 10 to 15 minutes is enough time to start with. Try to eventually build up to working out at three days a week for 30 minutes a session. There are many fun ways for teens to exercise: hiking, swimming, walking through the mall, Dance Dance Revolution, Wii Fit, EA Sports Active, football, hockey, ice skating, roller skating, and martial arts are just a few.
